In Bhrigu Nandi Nadi (BNN) astrology, every planet has a natural nature — either benefic (helpful) or malefic (challenging). Understanding this is foundational before attempting any prediction, because a planet's natural character colours every result it produces regardless of house placement.
Natural planet classifications in BNN:
- Natural Benefics — Jupiter, Venus, full Moon, strong Mercury
- Natural Malefics — Saturn, Mars, Rahu, Ketu, Sun, weak Moon, afflicted Mercury
In BNN, this classification is the starting point — but it is immediately overlaid with the functional nature of the planet for the specific ascendant. A naturally malefic planet like Saturn becomes a yoga-karaka (auspicious planet) for Taurus and Libra ascendants. A naturally benefic planet like Jupiter becomes a difficult planet for Capricorn ascendant.
This dual reading — natural nature plus functional nature — is one of the key reasons BNN is more accurate than systems that use only natural classifications without ascendant adjustment.
